A Message from the Founder
Going to a PWI has shaped my perspective on the world and increased my desire for independent study. One of my many questions… “Why is everything written by Black People about Black History classified by others outside of our race as fiction or its authenticity questioned?”
One such questioning is due to the lack of writing and reading in our ancestry which would have made the literacy rates low. As the African People’s history is rich in oral tradition, the black experience, written with limited mention of our value before slavery, is dependent upon our grandmothers, great-grandmothers and great-greats who carefully used the stiches in a quilt and notes hidden in family bibles to preserve our stories.
